A Brief Bio
A life of writing and other interesting stuff
My work life began in my early teens when I began acting, performing as a magician, and doing stand-up comedy. During my magic career I developed many original magic effects and published them, winning multiple awards. I became a magic columnist, and with my wife, we published our own magic magazine.
In my late 20’s I began working more with computers. I had an early start with them as my dad wrote books on electronics and digital computing. I began to get known for doing innovative things with the Amiga computer, and began writing about it and doing reviews for a number of magazines, as well as being a regular columnist for several magazines. When the Amiga ended production, I wrote for PC oriented magazines such as PC Computing.
I married fellow magician Belle Daily in my early 20s. Together we owned a magic company that developed and produced original and licensed magic effects for other magicians. She would go on to a career in mainstream show business working for both Screen Actor’s Guild and Actor’s Equity. She returned to performing magic around six years ago. Our years in show business are chronicled in The Greatest Adventure.
While I have written a few books, most of my writing career has been for magazines and on-line publications. The magazine market has shrunk considerably, so most of my writing from the 2000s forward has been for online publications.
Almost all of that writing was done under pseudonyms. I expanded into writing in several different areas, using pseudonyms to keep the different genres separate. I have written hundreds of consumer product reviews and am still writing them, I write articles on health and science, and I have written travel guides. I have also done quite a bit of ghost writing.
Then my life ended as I knew it. A neurological condition kept me sidelined for over a decade. Better drugs, the slow rewiring of my brain, and learning methods to compensate have made it possible for me to write again.
After nearly twenty years, I am going back to writing under my own name. My focus as me is almost entirely on books. Check out the Book section to see what I am working on.
